The Passion of Christ
What Does it Really Teach us?
With the release of Mel Gibson's movie The Passion of the Christ, the world's eye has been turned to a real event that occurred over 2,000 years ago. Some today are now asking how such violence could be an expression of love on the part of a compassionate God. Even though the brutality of the cross was indeed real, one must ask if Hollywood is better at depicting violence than it is at explaining Divine compassion.
How Does It Change Us?
The Bible teaches that we are changed by the things we behold (Proverbs 23:7). This describes a law of the human mind which says we become what we look at! Every person with which we have contact and each event we experience in life has a positive and a negative aspect. The natural tendency is to focus on the negative because that is most what we are like.
